Marcia Angel, Resume

Marcia Angel has been practicing the art of healing for over three decades. She has worked with people of all ages in a variety of settings in the USA and abroad. 

Marcia received a bachelor of science in occupational therapy, specializing in sensory motor development in children.

Simultaneously she discovered the power of improvisational drama which radically transformed her awareness of self and others.

Marcia obtained a master of arts in clinical psychology and pursued a career in the health profession.

Marcia committed her life to following Jesus in 1979, in London, England.

After meeting & marrying Billy Angel in 1980, together they led a Gospel Theatre Company which toured the UK for 2 years. In 1990 they adopted their son Daniel in London, UK. 

Marcia worked as an occupational therapist and manager for Social Services in London for 16 years, while practicing a healing ministry at leadership level in their local church.

Pursuing her love of drama as a healing art, Marcia trained in the UK as a psychodrama psychotherapist, from 1995 to 2000. The family of three moved to South Wales, UK in 2000.

During the same time period, pursuing her love of community theater she trained with Jonathan Fox, New York,  as a conductor and trainer of Playback Theatre.

In Wales, UK, Marcia formed a Playback Theatre Company which gave performances regularly for a period of 3 years.

After living in the UK for nearly 27 years, the Angels moved to Florida, USA in 2006. Marcia returned to her work as a pediatric occupational therapist.

In Florida Marcia started another Playback Theater Company which trained and performed for a period of 2 years. 

 

From November 2012 through the summer of 2019, the Angels have operated Story Cafe, art house with a difference, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Since the fall of 2019 they have relocated to the Harris Building on 111 Division Ave. South in downtown Grand Rapids. This new venue is called 'the Story Lab'. 

 

Billy & Marcia have renamed their overall work: Story Trio.

Part of the Story Trio is Marcia's Story Circus, which is a family-support unit. Through Story Circus Marcia works with special needs children (and their parents) in 2 areas mostly: (1) sensory issues, and (2) adoption issues. See the Story Circus page for more info.

At the Story Lab Marcia conducts (Story Cafe) Playback Improv once every month on a Saturday evening. The group trains once a week.
